Let's Talk Periods: Ovulation

During this cycle there is a rise in the follicle stimulating hormone, followed by the rise in luteinizing hormone (LH) stimulates the follicle to release an egg. Estrogen increases further to thicken the uterine lining. Testosterone begins to surge, driving desire, and then drops around ovulation. The verbal and social centres of the brain are stimulated by these hormones during this time.

You have energy to burn during this time. Choose high impact workouts like spin class, bikram yoga or bootcamp workouts.

Fill up on raw vegetables for fibre and fruit for high levels of glutathione to ensure your body easily metabolizes and eliminates any estrogen surplus - stick with light grains like quinoa. Sticking with ovulatory foods will promote vascular and anti-oxidative well being for your ovaries.
